When we were on our honeymoon in Kauai, all of our time there was peppered with ohhhh that’s beautiful moments. We visited Waimea Canyon, and laid around on the beach and we added in a healthy serve of mai tais, just to make sure we were really getting the Hawaiian vibes right.
One day we went to Beach House for lunch. The restaurant had been recommended to us and we decided to go at lunch time to break up the day a little and because we had to drive there. We weren’t 100% sure where it was and didn’t love the idea of getting lost in Kauai in the dark without WiFi.
More fool us, there’s just one road that goes around the island and all we had to do was get off it when we saw the big Beach House Restaurant sign. Anyway. We wandered into a beautiful open plan restaurant with the most incredible view, brimming with Hawaiian hospitality and good vibes and were immediately seated by one of the big, open plantation style windows. It was a pretty hot day, even for Hawaii, and the fans spinning above us were a very welcome part of the scene and thus began another ohhhh that’s beautiful moment.
Todd ordered a bottle of wine for us to share but I just couldn’t help myself and ended up also ordering a lilikoi mimosa. It was so delicious, lilikoi is like passionfruit I think, it was light and refreshing and a perfect choice for a hot honeymoon day. And awesomely Hawaii state law says you can take a bottle of wine away from the restaurant if you do not finish it. We’re not usually in danger of this but when we were ready to leave there was still a bit left so we took it to go and it served as a very pleasant sundowner on our blacony later in the day.
I was not able to go past the Baja Style Fish Tacos for my main and I wasn’t disappointed in that either. They came with corn tortillas, chipotle-lime crema, pico de gallo, and avocado.
We enjoyed that visit to The Beach House so much, it will be at the top of the places to revisit if we’re ever lucky enough to be gracing Kauai’s fair shores again.
