Sleepover in New Orleans: Royal Sonesta New Orleans

In January we spent five nights at The Royal Sonesta in the French Quarter. New Orleans was just as I had hoped it would be; charming, dirty, Southern, beautiful, loud and 24 hours all day erry day. It was a place like nowhere else I’ve been in the US or anywhere else actually.

Royal Sonesta’s location is smack bang in the middle of the action on Bourbon Street. We loved the hotel. Everything was lovely and clean and up to date. There was even a little night light situation going on where you swing your feet out of bed and a soft blue light cast itself over the floor so you could see your way to the bathroom without waking your partner.

We requested a room not facing Bourbon Street and that was a great idea, Bourbon Street is still going strong at 5am, 6am and then after that the street cleaners roll through the French Quarter to purge the streets of the night before. That’s right, every morning!
