On Lobster and Laughter

One of my best pals lives all the way over in Londontown and recently when she was back in Sydney I got her to my myself for a whole evening. I quite randomly selected The Rook, I’d been wanting to try it but I didn’t really know what it’d be like

We arrived quite early, about 5:30pm and were promptly seated. As it was a special occasion we ordered cocktails, I had a special that was still running following National Gin Week, The Pink Lady and my friend had the Return to Grace. Both were delicious and served in absolutely beautiful glasses and were worth their price tag for the experience. I’m not much of a cocktail aficionado, they’re pretty much a holiday thing for me so it was a bit of fun.

When it came to ordering food I had long before decided to try the lobster roll with truffle fries, I just had to. My friend ordered the half lobster, which I didn’t take a photo of but which she seemed to inhale at breakneck speed so I guess it was good! The lobster roll was fantastic, a little more of a chilli kick to it than I anticipated but I still enjoyed it immensely. There’s just something so incredibly special about lobster isn’t there?

We then had a prosecco and shared a toblerone for dessert. The description on the menu had us intrigued and when it arrived like this I was a little surprised. It was a really nice dessert but very rich, and we didn’t actually finish it between the two of us.

Have you been to The Rook? Did you try the deep fried Mars Bar? I’ve still never sampled this odd delicacy but I noticed it there on the menu!
