The Cafe Scene: Bitton Gourmet Café and Grocer

I love my old favourites when it comes to cafes. I like good coffee and food and places where I know the routine. But I also really like exploring somewhere new and I had been meaning to check out Bitton Gourmet Café and Grocer for a while when sunshine and the location of the place printing our wedding invitations paired with Saturday and found us only a few streets away. So we popped in to try it out and I have to say, we were impressed.

The Designer had the French crepês with fruit compote and strawberry and vanilla jam and lusted after it in a way that wasn’t entirely appropriate for a public setting.

I surprised myself at the last second by ordering the maple nut granola, natural yoghurt and berry comport with orange jelly. It was really, really good! I am normally obsessive about ordering eggs for breaky at a cafe, I have never mastered the art of poaching an egg at home so I generally look forward to enjoying a poached egg that someone else has prepared. But this granola truly impressed me. It was crunchy, but not grindingly so and that orange jelly was good.

All in all I give it a thumbs up even though they initially forgot our coffees and delivered our food first and there were almost more Bugaboo Cameleons than there were customers!
